Ryobi OCS1830 Chainsaw Review

The Ryobi One+ OCS1830 is a cordless chainsaw that works with an 18V 5Ah Li-ion battery.

The OCS1830 is extremely portable thanks to its light design. Weighing just 2.5kg without the battery pack, it is easy and comfortable to use wherever you’re operating.

Quieter than a petrol chainsaw, the 18V motor requires no maintenance, produces no emissions, and removes the need to store petrol. The mechanical and electrical chain brake ensures the chainsaw immediately stops running, if required, for improved user safety.

It has a 30cm (12 inch) Oregon® bar and chain, plus an automatic oiling system for even greater convenience. It can also be adjusted quickly and easily thanks to tool-less chain tensioning, while a full wrap-around handle (complete with over-mould), means it can be used in any orientation, perfect when reaching for awkward areas or branches.

The Ryobi OCS1830 falls short with the length of time it holds a charge for. It can take a while to cut through branches and firewood.

The battery life may or may not hold its full charge for you to finish the task at hand, depending on how much wood cutting you need to get through.

Once flat, it needs about an 1 hour 30 minutes to fully charge up again.

Buyers of the Ryobi OCS1830 will get more use out of it if you have a spare battery to hand to swap over with, if this chainsaw dies while in use.

Asides from that, it’s a cracking chainsaw for use at home.
